Polishing is the process to make surface of wood smooth, shiny, resistant to moisture. As wooden furniture is present in everyone house, so one must know why to polish the furniture? Yes it seems good, Polish is very much necessary for wooden furniture to maintain its look, to increase its beauty and to get rid of dusty articles from inside the home.

During pandemic lockdown need is to remain busy. And I think to polish the wooden furniture inside your home may be a useful task. As polishes available are mostly synthetic, but one may prepare it in his home. Synthetic polishes are not environmental friendly. These are costive and releases toxic compounds. Therefore, home mad polish may be considered as excellent alternative. One may prepare it in his home by following simple procedures.

Steps involved in polishing furniture

1 Clean wooden furniture

How to clean wooden furniture? is basic step towards maintaining look of furniture. For this purpose, use dry water in order to remove dust particles and spots over the furniture surface. But water may cause one disadvantage, it may moisturize furniture surface. So, water should be treated immediately with dry clothes. Vacuum may be created to remove water.

Brush may be used to clean furniture. By using this old surface of wooden material is cleaned. It is necessary, as if old surface of wood is not cleaned then it may contaminate newly polish material.

2 How to prepare natural polish

Generally, Vinegar and lemon juice is being applied to wood as a natural polish. These are mixed in equal parts. Vinegar removes dust from wood while lemon juice gives shine to furniture. Another way, to prepare natural polish is by mixing lemon juice and olive oil in 2:1 ratio. Coconut oil is also used for this purpose. While making polish, don’t forget to stir and shake the solution, so that all ingredients of mixture is completely dissolved. The polish should be kept in bottle and it should be prepared in less amount where it can be used. Extra polish that is remained may be rancified by moisture.

3 How to apply polish

Firstly apply polish to a cotton cloth then applied it to surface of wood. Brush may not be used because it may splash polish as sprinkles. You may repeat polishing process as you need. Then work for next section. Allow to dry wood materials completely.
